Winter in the park
For the most atmospheric Christmas and end-of-year period, you have to be by the sea. 'All I want for Christmas is you ..... and Ostend!' For some years now, the City by the Sea has been firmly at the top of the list of cities that are worth a visit in the winter. For example, there is Winter in the Park, the country's most magical Christmas market. In the middle of a cozy illuminated Leopold Park, visitors can skate on the pond, surrounded by more than 50 wooden chalets with typical Christmas items. During the Christmas holidays, daily animations and activities for children complete the experience.
Whether you wear your own skates, drink a mulled wine at one of the atmospheric bars or browse among the warm hats and colourful mittens at one of the chalets... Winter in the Park is an experience in itself!
Attractive shopping
During the packing time, Ostend more than lives up to its reputation as the shopping city by the sea. In the Adolf Buylstraat you will find the only light tunnel in the country. Four times a day you get to see a fantastic light show. The catchy music ensures that many spectators take a dance step. The skylight was completely renewed this year with different colours, new animation and cool and recognizable sing-alongs.
The other shopping streets were also full of Christmas spirit. In our many shops you will certainly find the necessary gifts that you can also have festively wrapped in Ostend wrapping paper in the packing bar.
Rooftop Winterbar
Earlier this year the bar Rooftop by Cappuccino opened on top of the tea-room of the same name in the Kapellestraat. During the Christmas holidays, this special location is dressed as a cosy winter bar, a bit like New York in Ostend! The City by the Sea has many new hotspots where you can enjoy a delicious meal: Zaz Cuisine, Resto Vito and Albrecht are just a few examples. For a coffee or a glass of wine, you can also recently visit the new jazz café On Stage.
Enjoying with 'the loved ones'
If you are ready for some well-deserved rest, then nothing beats an invigorating walk along the beach line. Dive in and enjoy the surf and the sea breeze...! In Ostend you can recharge your batteries and spend a wonderful time with your family. The programmes of the Ostend cultural centres also invite you to enjoy together. Mu.Zee, Kaap, De Grote Post and Kursaal offer a wide range of exhibitions, theatre and music performances.
